Boat hire fees have been dropped during club week so if you want to hire a boat for use outside of the organised events during club week you will need to:
1. Print and complete the booking form (this is a PDF field and will open in a new window).
2. Take the form and speak to one of the following people for availabilty and further details:
The following are the types of boat that are available to hire outside of organised events, click on the boat name to view more information.
Members who wish to hire out boats must be at least RYA level two or accepted comparable skill and may be asked to provide evidence of that or of suitable experience for the conditions prevailing on that day. The hiring officer's decision is final though they may use the hiring register to form their judgement.
1. Every care is to be taken to return the boat in good condition, washed down and equipment returned to the correct place.
2. All defects to be reported
3. Payment will be due on any damage beyond fair wear and tear
4. Only equipment with the boat number above is to be used. If any equipment is found to be faulty then this must be reported to the club member in charge of hiring who will then authorise a change. UNAUTHORISED EXCHANGE WILL RESULT IN REFUSAL TO ALLOW FUTURE HIRE.
5. Boats may only be hired when there is a safety boat in attendance and wind strength is 18mph or below.
6. Except for very experienced helms (to be decided by the hiring officer), the limits of sailing are Kings Hall(West) to the Coastwatch station (East) and no further out than the Out fall. Under certain conditions this area may be reduced. If the boat is hired to join in with club racing, then the extent of the course determines the area. Boats should keep clear of racing fleets.
7. Hirer must provide their own buoyancy aid and wear it when afloat
8. It would be helpful if anyone wishing to hire out a boat informed one of those below before the day they wished to hire. This is to help ensure that no “double booking of boats” occurs. If the weather turns out to be unsuitable on the day there is no obligation to go ahead with the hire.
9. The following Club members are authorised to hire out boats contact numbers are on the club notice board.
